Boxbox is the new improvement for private messages. (footnote 1)

Click the boxbox to the left of a private message to open private chat. Closing, as does leaving the tab, clears the pane, though the messages remain in red in the chat history.

Private Messages work even with chat disabled.

Messages can now be sent by typing: Name@Message
Spaced names need no quotation marks as before. Example:
Rat Spoon@Let me give you free stuff!
/msg (double space) Message no longer works.
/msg still requires quotation marks around spaced names.
