Nobody knows the true origins of Aillerrg... Not even Aillerrg himself.
His first memory is that of waking up in Echtin in a very confused state. He didn't know where he was, and found it difficult to understand what the people around him were saying. It was then that Shadar Darei discovered him, took him under his wing, and made him part of the family known as “Um "
From very early on Aillerrg knew he loved to create, and under the guidance of Shadar began to learn and love mining, and also took a keen interest in other activities such as smithing, and woodcutting. The joy of creating something from nothing was almost unparalleled....
But Aillerrg is also fully aware that there's a dark side to his soul that's growing, festering, and getting hungrier each day. The side that rejoiced in battle, and bathed in warm spilt blood, and fed off the souls of the dead. The side that is awakening...
In an attempt to quell his dark side Aillerrg tried something he had heard in some stories – He walked the earth. After nigh on a year Aillerrg came to the conclusion that walking the earth didn't calm his dark side, but it did prevent it from growing. This was a solution Aillerrg was not willing to accept. He had to find a way to calm his dark side or control it. With that thought in mind he returned to the lands known as 'Movoda'.
On his return Aillerrg was saddened to find that the family known as 'Um' were no more – the heads of the family were missing, and the children scattered across the land seeking refuge from whoever offered it. Having been a child of 'Um' Aillerrg elected to do as the other children had. Seek refuge.
It wasn't long before Aillerrg encountered a farm boy. After talking to this farm boy he found out that he in fact was a leader of the Dogs of War who dressed as a farm boy as a disguise. Aillerrg learned that the Dogs of War were not indeed the aggressive slaughterers that their name belied but were actually a tribe of warriors who adhered to a code of honour not too dissimilar to the honour that 'Um' possessed. Farmerboy (as he was known) extended his hand in friendship, and Aillerrg gladly accepted.
Thanks to the many lessons he had learned with the 'Um' Aillerrg quickly rose to the officer rank of 'Metal Head' within his new tribe. The Dogs of War encouraged Aillerrg to continue perfecting the mining techniques he had learned with the 'Um' but they also urged him to practice and participate in combat in defence of the tribe. Aillerrg quickly saw this was feeding his darker self but he also found that he could control his dark self better by unleashing it in combat. Even with this knowledge Aillerrg knew that his battle within was far from over...
... Then one day came that changed the battlefield entirely. Farmerboy called Aillerrg over to the Dogs of War compound in Moskim from his mining duties in Droesar. In a private meeting Farmerboy handed an emerald and a book to Aillerrg and instructed him to go and seek the great sage Haldos in the land of Beromi. Haldos had sent for him.
Aillerrg had heard of the name Haldos before during his time in 'Um' when the family elders had mentioned in passing that they needed to see him because they 'felt ready for their next lesson'. The 'Um' family elders were in possession of great power that made them do feats that couldn't be explained, such as instant healing, moving faster, and hurtling lightning bolts. Every time one of them returned from visiting Haldos they always had a new ability to amaze the rest of the family with. Aillerrg never thought he would be trusted with the knowledge that these lessons contained, that his dark side somehow showed through no matter how much he fought it or contained it, that he was tainted and unworthy. But now he was given a chance to learn the sacred knowledge of power.
