Today is the Greased Lightning Festival, a day for all those speed demons to get out there and run. You may want to check out the Royal Marathon starting in Martral (click on town name to start, like a quest). If you stop, they collect your race bib, but you can restart the race later, and it seems that it tracks how many total laps to determine the prizes (not just how many you do at one time).

Black Diamonds (BD) dropped while mining. They kept dropping for a week at a lower rate.

Oval Mining Hole – Requires Mining level <= 7 (assumption is level 1)
– Gives Tin Ore
Round Mining Hole – Requires Mining level above 22 (higher than in 2019) (assumption is level 25)
– Gives 1 – 2 Coal per action
– Has a chance of dropping 1 silver ore
Square Mining Hole – Requires Mining level between 48 and 52 (inclusive) (assumption is level 50)
– Gives 1 – 2 Bauxite per action
Mining in these special locations give +50% xp instead of the +40% that's available elsewhere and have a reduced base timer.

– More random harvests WITH crowding, but 30% extra exp, so could be more than just +3 (potatoes 22 instead of 17, grapes 19 instead of 15)
