Maldorian Citizenship
In the land of Maldor the Maldorians are a race of seafarers and traders.
Their ability to craft some of the worlds best nets and build the highest
quality boats has made them the fishing hub of the known world.
These skills have allowed them to travel far out to sea to hunt whales
and far to the north to hunt seals and polar bears.
They have established a well rounded crafting and smithing system
that has provided them with the only known source for many products.
These unusual products has drawn traders from all parts of the world and
Maldorians are well known for their superior trading skills.
Their woodworking skills acquired from years of building large boats
has improved their construction skills to the point that surpasses all
others.
Lacking in mining skills and available ores to make weapons and armor
they have taken to practicing magic to help in their hunting efforts.
Unfortunately they have seen an increase in attacks from other hostile
nation that have come across the sea from a far off land to raid their
precious whale oils and other unique products.
Being mainly a seafaring nation they lack the type of items that improve
land travel like most other nations have developed.
Recently there have been small kelp farms cropping up along the shores
and these have produced some very interesting recipes for a variety of foods.
After talking to the local Maldorians I've discovered that they can only smith with tin and copper ores but they have perfected the use of coppers bars and tin bars allowing them to smith items from copper and tin along with bronze.
Using the resources collected from whales, seals and polar bears they have been able to learn to smith many items useful in aiding them in these areas.
They also have the ability to enchant some items to give them extra powers. Rumor has it that they have even discovered the technique of smithing gold but I've not been able to confirm this as of now.
While looking for the local Shaman to talk about their unusual magic abilities I noticed a local crafter making a harpoon used in whale hunting. An a smith making a large knife used in cleaning the whales.
Next to the crafting hut I saw a man using a strange tool to craft a long rope used with the harpoon. Next to him was a fishing coat used by everyone fishing from their boats. There was some type of spyglass that aided them in spotting schools of fish. hopefully I'll be able to get more information on what types of fish they are trying to spot with them.
I suddenly realized that I had not eaten for some time and decided to stop in the local tavern for a drink and bite of food. I was very happy to see that they served several salmon dishes but was really impressed with the squid and octopus selections.
After talking to young lady who came to take my order that salmon and trout were two of the main stables of their diet and that they were caught daily by fishermen using boats. It seems like the squid and Octopus were random but valuable finds in there nets. The idea of using nets to fish intriqued me and I wanted to give it a try the first chance I got.
Thats when I noticed the woman sitting at the table next to me holding some type of staff with a large sapphire attached to the top. I intorduced myself to her and asked what the staff was used for and she obliged me with a long explantion about it being some type of staff used in magic casting. She also agreed to take me to the local shaman so I could learn more about their unusual magic skills.
