The headphones pounded in his ears, almost in perfect harmony with his footsteps on the stone staircase. This was his first trip outside the United States, he was inspired to come here, Kamakura Japan, after those weird things that happened here about a year ago. He read about it in a newspaper.
As he walked up the stairs from the beach he looked at his surroundings, beautiful cherry blossoms were blooming and falling from their branches in the light afternoon breeze. 'It's really beautiful here.' he thought. He glanced at the sky again and noticed an abundance of angry, gray-black clouds that threatened to pour rain on him and those not inside their houses or store yet.
'Damn,' he thought, 'I still haven't found a hotel or bed-and-breakfast to stay at..' He then shifted the backpack on his back and began running the remaining step to the top.
When he got there, he looked for a rooftop to head towards and saw one over the trees not too far away. He ran towards it as the first drops of rain began to fall.
Okay let's get inside before it really starts pouring! Kouta yelled to Nana and Mayu. Okay Kouta-san! but I need to find that last tool first! Nana yelled back. As Nana looked up at the sky, the first drop of rain plopped on her face, as she raised her hand to wipe the water away, it started raining non-stop.
As she frustratedly tried to look for the ladder that led to the ground she looked at the sidewalk and saw a boy running towards the Maple Inn. He wore a black beanie, a black hoodie and dark blue jeans. 'He better not be one of those graffiti artists.' she thought. He did have a backpack that seemed to be full of something, but she didn't want to jump to conclusions.
She then found the ladder that led down to the garden and went inside to see if the boy had left, she opened the door a crack and peeked out.
She was wrong.
He was sitting on the ground with his back on the side of the building, she now noticed he wore glasses and his brown hair stuck out in random curls from under his beanie, he had little black ear buds in his ears and his eyes were closed.
'Well, this is where it all happened,' he thought. 'And I was beginning to wonder how long it'd take me to find it on my own.' He had already rung the doorbell but apparently wasn't heard so he sat down to wait and closed his eyes.
He heard a slight sound and opened his eyes a little, standing there was a girl who looked soaking wet from the rain, like she was outside playing in it. He noticed his feet were wet and looked at his shoes, the rain had intensified so much that just the splashing soaked them through.
She opened the door a bit wider walked out, his head snapped in her direction fast enough to scare her. Sorry! he exclaimed, didn't mean to scare you. Honest. he smiled softly and he glanced at her head. She had small horns protruding from her head. 'So there are more diclonious after all, the paper was wrong, there's still more!' he thought excitedly.
She looked at him oddly, he stood up and she held out her hand, I'm Nana. she said happily. Phil. was all he said before he took her hand and softly squeezed, they both were smiling.
